Overview
Take a "big sweep" of your surroundings
Integrate with any network-compatible Garmin chartplotter
Any network-compatible Garmin chartplotter can double as your radar screen. And as an aid to locational awareness, the GMR 406 radar image can be overlaid on the Garmin network's moving map cartography display. The on-screen display can also be split, allowing for a simultaneous view of mapping alongside the standard radar picture.
Easily Connect to Garmin Marine Network
The GMR 406 communicates with the Garmin Marine Network through a waterproof 100-megabit plug-and-play proprietary network which gives you the ability to expand your boats system as needed. You can connect a GPS antenna and one remote network sensor (like the GMR 406) directly to a multifunctional display. Or, with the addition of the GMS 10 Network Port Expander, you can connect multiple displays and network sensors to the same network.
Our GMR 404/406 marine radar pedestal supports GMR 404's 4 ft and GMR 406's 6 ft open array and must be purchased separately in combination with these products.
All radar data is digitally processed within this solid pedestal via a digital signal processor and is efficiently presented on compatible Garmin chartplotter/multifunction displays (MFDs). Digital processing allows for more precise recognition, enhancement, and filtering of radar echoes — making the finished display easier to read and interpret.
This pedestal's two speed gear box allows for an antenna sweep of either 24 or 48 RPMs, with an input voltage of 10.5 - 38 volts DC and a typical input power of 45W. The pedestal also powers radar covering a range up to 72 nautical miles.
